Language groups at SPEAK are designed for curious minds who want to know more about the world around them -- and if you’re reading this, we bet you’re one!
Language groups take place in a fun and informal environment where participants learn a new language while also getting to know other cultures -- as we write this, we’ve had participants from over 190 countries in SPEAK, so even small talk is interesting here.
What we cover
Groups are built around thematic-based sessions, where participants explore topics relevant to their daily life while sharing their own experiences with the group. Some of the topics covered in the language groups are:
👨👧 Family and pets
🏠 Housing and home
📅 Time, seasons and weather
💂 Jobs and routines
🚐 City and means of transport
🏨 Services in a city
🍕 Food and restaurants
🎃 Festivals and traditions
💙 Countries and nationalities
💪 Body and health
👖 Clothing and shopping
🎨 Hobbies
🗽 Society
The format
Language groups have a duration of 18 hours, divided in 12 sessions of 90 minutes each. You can opt for one of the following models:
- Online groups, where sessions will take place 2 or 3 times per week, during 6 or 4 weeks, respectively.
- Offline groups, where, following all the safety guidelines, you will have face-to-face sessions:
- 3 times per week, during 4 weeks
- 2 times per week, during 6 weeks.
And as we find that the best way to learn a new language is by using it, the groups’ focus is on speaking and listening and not on reading and writing -- during sessions, participants do most of the speaking, and get to know each other in the process.
Language groups have two different levels: Basic and Conversational. You can find more information about the different levels here.
